February 22, 2003: 9AM to 9PM - The Rose Bowl, Pasadena, CA
A Day of Fasting and Praying for California
The Call California
Website
A lot of people have been asking me how the Call LA was and what it was
about. Well, I guess I could tell you to go click the link above and read
about it yourself but I guess I also could just give you a brief summary of
my experience. =)
Anyway, the Call Los Angeles started for me even
before February 22, 2003. Having gone to the Call DC on September 2, 2000, I
had the opportunity to participate in the 40 Day Revolution with hundreds of
thousands of other believers challenged by the Call DC upon returning home.
I don't recall when exactly I found out about the Call Los Angeles but I
remember feeling God convicting me to join in another 40 Day Pre-Call
Revolution in anticipation of February 22, 2003. On day 39, I flew back to
Los Angeles so that I could go to the Rose Bowl the next morning. On the day
of the Call, my brother and I woke at about 4:15AM in order to prepare and
be out of the house by 4:30. We left a bit late at around 4:50 but the drive
to Pasadena only took 35-40 minutes on the empty freeways of Los Angeles.
Arriving at the Rose Bowl around 5:30AM, I was
surprised by the number of people already congregating outside the gates. We
were there early to sign in as volunteers but there were so many others who
came in anticipation of an awesome day of seeking God!
To summarize the rest of the day, it was an
incredible 19 hour day from start to finish in which I was able to press on
only by the grace of God. I was encouraged to see so many different people
from all walks of life and of all ages gathering together to intercede for
their city, their nation, and their world. People were praying and fasting
and seeking God all day under the hot California sun and it was incredible.
Through the Call Los Angeles, God just reminded of 2nd Chronicles 7:14 where
He says, "If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves
and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear
from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land."
A quick note: Most of the pictures and video show
the massive gathering of believers praising, dancing... In actuality, most
of the day was dedicated to *praying*. I have hardly any pictures of people
praying because... yeah, I was praying too. =)
Some pictures taken throughout the day:
- 6:24AM: My brother and I don our Volunteer vests and await the beginning
of The Call

- 6:46AM: 2.25 hours before the beginning of The Call, hundreds (maybe
thousands) of people are already gathering

fast and pray

- 12:53PM: Under the hot California sun, believers worship and intercede for
California

- 12:57PM: View of the gathering and the main stage

- 1:39PM: God paints a cross in the afternoon sky
